The January edition of The Westland Wildcat is out and online. Copies are also available in the Media Center. In this issue, our writers report on the school play, and guest writers contribute creative writing pieces about child labor. There is also a Westland staff crossword puzzle to challenge you. The first three students to complete the crossword and submit it to Ms. Holmes in Room 214 receive a prize.

Congratulations to the Westland football team for winning today against Urbana, 34-14 and taking the Silver Division Championship! The team would like to send a big thanks to Mr. Vogelman and his family and Mrs. Desroches for coming out to support them today. And a big thanks to all the Westland football supporters for a wonderful season!

Submit your own photos for publication in the yearbook!

Get your pictures in the yearbook. The Yearbook Staff invites students and parents to submit photos for the yearbook. If you've got great photos of school and community events or you and your friends just having fun, we'd like to see them. Our photographers can't be everywhere. Help us get as many photos as possible to create a terrific book everyone will want to have.

Here is how you can submit photos online:
* Go to: https://images.jostens.com/login
* If it does not automatically log you into the site, enter username:400006124 and password:wildcats
* Browse to select the photo(s) you wish to upload.
* Enter information about the photo and provide contact information in case the staff needs additional information.
* Click "Save Details".

It's that easy! Submit your photos today! The last day to submit photos is 3/01/2010.

Just a reminder that Westland’s Back to School Night is tomorrow, Thursday Sept. 17th. The action gets underway at 5:30pm with the PTA Expo in the cafeteria. You can:

* Sign up for after-school programs

We are offering a wide variety of classes including teacher sponsored activities such as Homework Club, Chamber Chorus and Math Team. We also have vendor-led activities like kayaking, tennis and Chinese. We're also advertising Montogomery County "Rec Extra" classes.

We thought we'd let you catch your breath from all the back-to-school
preparations before beginning our annual campaign to enroll all families in
Giant's A+ Bonus Bucks program and the Safeway/Escrip program. Well, I hope
you've taken your breath because it's time to get your grocery cards out of
your wallets and register!! Signing up is fast, free, and easy. (And, yes,
you must sign up every year, last year's registration doesn't count!)
